MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE PROGRAMME
MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATES
The Management Associate (MA) Programme is designed to groom young talent to take on leadership roles in PSA. Specific and generic career tracks are available to groom individuals who wish to pursue a professional (including Engineering, IT and Finance) or Operations/general management career. Regardless of the career tracks, selected candidates will be put onto an accelerated development programme combining job rotations, stretch assignments, leadership training, mentoring by senior managers and international exposure. All these are aimed at developing MAs into well-rounded managers, with the professional and business knowledge as well as the general management skills to lead in our business.

MAs will begin their career with going through a two-month structured rotation programme to give them a comprehensive overview of the PSA business. This also provides them a valuable opportunity to network with their fellow colleagues and senior leaders from various functions.

Requirements
  • At least a 2nd Class Upper Honours in any discipline.
  • Good CCA/work track record and leadership experience.
  • Engineering, IT, Accountancy/Finance, Business, Logistics, Operations, Commercial/Marketing background preferred.

OPERATIONS
OPERATIONS PLANNING ANALYST (PROCESS IMPROVEMENT)
You will work in the Planning Department to review current container terminal work processes and identify areas for improvement. Part of your portfolio will also include re-designing processes and facilitate implementation so as to improve PSA's operational efficiency to cope with increasing demand.

Requirements
  • Possess a good degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics
  • Able to use advanced MS Excel statistical/mathematical functions and write simple programs to automate data processing steps (in VBA)
  • Highly numerate and able to make logical deductions using numbers
  • Strong written and communication skills
OPERATIONS EXECUTIVES / ASSISTANT MANAGERS
Working in the nerve centre at our container terminals, you plan and lead container-handling operations with proprietary resource planning and operating systems to ensure that PSA delivers seamless service to our customers round the clock. Managing a team of 100, you are responsible for the quick turnaround of vessels and ensuring prompt connectivity of customers' cargo. Gain valuable knowledge of our business and develop as leaders through job rotations.

TRAINEE SENIOR OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR
Embark on a 1-year training and development programme to supervise large-scale container terminal operations. The programme will give you a sound foundation in the fundamentals of supervising vessel operations and resource planning. You will also develop strong leadership and communication skills as you manage and motivate a team of equipment specialists to ensure plans are well-executed, meeting critical service levels in a dynamic environment.

You should have a Diploma from a recognized institution or GCE 'A' levels with at least 2 'A' and 2 'AO' credits. Those with at least 5 years' supervisory and planning experience in similar large-scale industries are also welcome. You should also have strong communication and leadership skills.

You will earn a monthly salary of $2,000 (with NS) and a gross salary of up to $2,500, with shift allowance, overtime and incentive payments.

OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR (PLANNING)
You will plan the sequence of loading and unloading from ships as well as the placement of containers in our yards. Other responsibilities include the deployment of manpower for each shift. You will undergo a training programme that comprises classroom learning and on-the-job training to learn the fundamentals of ship and yard planning. You will also use comprehensive IT systems and planning tools to ensure quality planning.

Requirements
  • At least 3 GCE 'O' level credits, NITEC, ITC or equivalent
  • Able to work on shift

CONTAINER EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (YARD CRANE OPERATOR)
You will operate 7-storey high cranes in the PSA container yards, hence the ability to work at heights is a must. Your main responsibility will be to mount and offload containers to and from prime movers. Your speed and efficiency is critical for the smooth flow of operations. You will undergo a 3-month training programme in yard crane operations, at the end of which you will be awarded an ITE Skills Certificate.

You should have passed Secondary 2 (Express)/Secondary 3 (Normal)/NTC3 (Practical and Theory) and preferably have a Class 3 driving licence.

CONTAINER HANDLING SPECIALIST (PRIME MOVER DRIVER)

Join our team of disciplined and motivated prime mover drivers who truck containers within the port for container terminal operations. You will undergo a comprehensive training programme and upon successful completion, you will be awarded an ITE Skills Certificate in Prime Mover Operations.

Requirements

  • Preferably with a Class 3 driving licence; additional training will be provided for those without a Class 3 licence

LASHING SPECIALIST
Join our team of Lashing Specialists who secure containers on vessels using lashing equipment, berth/unberth vessels and assist in water bunkering operations.

You will undergo a 3-month training programme including on-the-job training. Upon completion, you will be awarded an ITE Skills Certificate in Container Lashing Operations.

You must be able to lift heavy objects.

Remuneration

You will earn a monthly salary of $1,500 (with NS) and a gross salary of up to $2,500, including shift allowance, overtime and incentive payments.

DORMITORY SUPERVISOR
You will be assisting the Dormitory Manager in Dormitory Operations.

Main Duties:
  • Ensure that the dormitory premises are satisfactorily clean, meals are provided on time and laundries are sent and picked up according to schedules daily
  • Schedule and supervise cleanup and repair assignments as and when necessary
  • Provide daily updates on movements of residents
  • Oversee the proper usage of the recreational facilities in the recreation centre and outdoors and facilitate the bookings of these facilities
  • Maintain a proper inventory of dormitory related items
  • Attend to residents' queries, requests etc
Other Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that rooms are equipped accordingly for arrival of new foreign workers

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (REEFER)
Your main role will be to monitor the performance of refrigerated containers and machinery both remotely as well as on-site to ensure that the temperature of cargo kept in them is well-regulated. You will also be required to troubleshoot faults and maintain the refrigeration systems and related components to ensure that the containers function efficiently.

Requirements
  • NITEC in Air-conditioning & Refrigeration, or equivalent
  • Possess experience in maintaining air-conditioning or chiller systems

ELECTRICAL / MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
ASSISTANT TECHNICIAN
You will assist the equipment team in the repair of prime movers and trailers. You will also support the team in other equipment servicing duties and in the housekeeping of the engineering workshops.

SERVICE ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL SERVICES)
You will lead a team of technical specialists to manage, operate and maintain Low Voltage electrical distribution systems and building electrical systems in the PSA terminals. In addition, you will assist the engineers in overseeing electrical projects to ensure compliance with regulations and specifications.

Requirements
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 3 years of related working experience
  • Preferably EMA Licensed Electrical Worker


TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (ENERGY MANAGEMENT)
You will join the team responsible for PSA's electrical distribution networks which include High-Tension switchgears, transformers, distribution substations & packaged substations. Your roles include assisting the engineers in performing preventive and corrective maintenance of these related electrical systems, calibration of energy meters and low and High Tension cable jointing.

Requirements
  • NITEC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Those with relevant experience will have an advantage

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (M&E SERVICES)
You will perform hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in buildings and container terminals. These include air-conditioning, mechanical ventilation, fire protection systems, electrical and pumping installations

Requirements
  • NITEC in either Electrical and Mechanical Technology; or Facility Technology (M&E Services); or equivalent
  • With relevant M&E experience
  • Perfect colour vision

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (WELDING) / WELDER
You will perform welding work on container handling cranes with appropriate materials and equipment. In addition, you will set up, operate and maintain welding machinery & other related equipment in the work shop; and ensure proper housekeeping.

Requirements
  • Possess a welding certificate of 3G or above
  • At least 3 years' experience as a welder in a heavy industry environment
  • Able to work outdoors and on weekends


PRINCIPAL/SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (LEW)
You will lead a team of engineers and technicians in the maintenance of electrical distribution networks & installations for PSA port's equipment and buildings. You will also manage manpower, budget and resources; and oversee projects from design inception, preparation of specifications, implementation to completion to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and specifications.

Specifically, you will:
  • Oversee the maintenance of PSA's high voltage Electrical Distribution Network including EMA Licensing to Electrical Installations.
  • Manage the efficient usage of the Electrical Distribution Networks including pattern of consumptions, power factor, declared demand and consumption projections
  • Ensure maintenance programmes for the electrical distribution networks are carried out effectively and in accordance with planned schedule.
  • Prompt attendance and investigation of equipment breakdown and complaints. Take proactive and appropriate remedial actions to resolve immediate problems and prevent future recurrence.
  • Carry out maintenance audit on the electrical distribution network installations
  • Identify and initiate improvements to maintenance programmes.
  • Ensure that inspections and testing of the electrical distribution equipment are carried out according to statutory requirements.

  • Professional Engineer (Singapore)
  • Licensed Electrical Worker (Engineer Grade) with High Voltage Switching Endorsement

EXECUTIVE MECHANICAL ENGINEER (QUALITY & INSPECTION)
Responsible for quality assurance, you lead a team to execute structural inspection programme for container handling cranes, conduct crane defects rectification and failure analysis, and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3 to 5 years' experience in welding and fabrications and/or steel structure inspection
  • Knowledge and experience in Quality Assurance
  • Holders of ASNT level III and/or AWS CWI will have an advantage


EXECUTIVE / ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATIONS)
You will lead a team of technical staff in the maintenance of electronics and communications services to ensure the delivery of quality systems and provide round the clock support for terminal operations. You will also be involved in project consultancy for A&A projects and installation of new electronics systems.

Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in CCTV, Security System, AV/MATV/DTV System, Trunk Radio System, Telephony System and Structured Cabling system


EXECUTIVE / ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (M&E SERVICES)

You will lead a team of technical staff in managing, operating and maintaining Low Voltage electrical distribution systems in the container terminals. You will also design and build electrical systems; and be responsible for project management and site supervision of electrical installations.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (EQUIPMENT ENGINEERING)
You lead a team of technical staff to maximise the efficiency of million-dollar container-handling equipment and systems by implementing cost-effective maintenance programmes and new initiatives to meet business demands. SERVICE ENGINEER (M&E SERVICES)
Responsible for the maintenance of M&E facilities in port buildings, you lead a team of technical specialists and assist the engineers in overseeing M&E projects from design inception to completion to ensure compliance with building regulations and specifications.

Requirements
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years' experience in the design and/or maintenance of M&E building services
  • Familiar with the local Code of Practices, Building and Fire Safety Regulations
  • Good knowledge of maintenance of various types of M&E equipment and systems used in buildings
ASSISTANT SERVICE ENGINEER (EQUIPMENT ENGINEERING)

ASSISTANT SERVICE ENGINEER (ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATIONS)
Working with the engineers and leading a team of technical specialists, you will maintain our electronics & communications systems.  These include CCTV, Card Access, Telephony, Trunk Radio and UPS. You will also provide technical support and consultancy services on E&C systems. In addition, you will be involved in E&C projects and tenders for procurement of E&C systems/equipment.

ASSISTANT SERVICE ENGINEER (ENERGY MANAGEMENT)
Working with the engineers and leading a team of technical specialists, you will maintain the switchgears and transformers in electrical installations of up to 22KV in PSA premises. You will conduct site supervision, faults tracing and troubleshooting; and be involved in energy management initiatives.

Requirements

You will assist and perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection on all quay cranes, yard cranes and lifting equipment. You will also examine, interpret, evaluate and record test results.

Requirements
  • Higher NITEC, ITC, NITEC or NTC2 in Mechanical Technology or equivalent
  • 3 years' experience in NDT works
  • Possess NDT Level 2 Certificate in MPT
  • Those with NDT Level 2 Certificate in UT and PT or welding experience will have an added advantage


TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (EQUIPMENT ENGINEERING)
Your main role in our technical team is to troubleshoot, repair, maintain and modify hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems. You may also participate in equipment modification projects to improve equipment reliability, safety and maintainability.

You should have a Higher NITEC, ITC, NITEC or NTC2 in a relevant Electrical or Mechanical trade.

TRAINEE TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (EQUIPMENT ENGINEERING)
Join us to be a Technical Specialist in our 2-year scheme consisting of classroom and on-the-job training and graduate with a National Institute of Technology Education Certificate (NITEC) in Port Equipment Technology. On graduation, you will be appointed as Technical Specialist and serve a 3-year bond.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NITEC / HIGHER NITEC / DIPLOMA / DEGREE STUDIES
(a) NITEC, Higher NITEC & Diploma Scholarships:

Open to Year 2 ITE students currently pursuing NITEC/Higher NITEC courses in Automotive, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Technology/Engineering.

Applicants for the Diploma Scholarship must enrol in either Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering diploma course in a local Polytechnic.



(b) Diploma & Degree Scholarships:

Open to Year 2 and 3 local Polytechnic students currently pursuing Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering diploma course.

Applicants for the Degree Scholarship must enrol in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree course in either NUS or NTU.



Terms of Scholarships
  • NITEC or Higher NITEC Scholarship: $8,000 in value, 1-year work commitment as Technical Specialist upon graduation.
  • Diploma Scholarship: $25,500 in value, 3-year work commitment as (Assistant) Service Engineer upon graduation.
  • Degree Scholarship: up to $40,500 in value, 4-year work commitment as Equipment Engineer upon graduation.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
CIVIL ENGINEER
You will lead a team of technical officers and technical specialists in the supervision of construction and Alteration & Addition projects; and the management and maintenance of civil and building infrastructure. You will also ensure effective deployment of resources.

Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Building
  • Those with relevant experience will have an added advantage


CIVIL TECHNICAL OFFICER (PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT)
You will assist the civil engineers in the planning and development of port infrastructure and buildings to efficiently support container terminal operations. Major responsibilities include:
  • Perform structural design calculations and site measurements
  • Prepare detailed drawings and draft contract specifications for the calling of tender
  • Initiate and co-ordinate projects with user departments according to schedule
  • Maintenance and upgrading of existing infrastructure including liaison with relevant authorities to meet planning, building, fire safety and environmental regulations
Requirements
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or Architecture
  • Knowledge of Microstation, design and calculation computer software


CIVIL TECHNICAL OFFICER (INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT)
You will assist the civil engineers in the maintenance, management and project supervision of offices, buildings and other infrastructure. Major responsibilities will be to:
  • Plan, prepare, monitor and update infrastructure maintenance programmes and project schedules; annual budget and expenditure for maintenance works
  • Conduct inspections and project supervision
  • Prepare drawings and draft contract specifications for calling of quotation/ tender for maintenance works

TECHNICAL OFFICER (QUANTITY SURVEYING)
You will carry out measurement work for purpose of cost estimates and variation works. You will also be involved in the tender process including tender document preparation, invitation, site showrounds and pre-award assessments. In addition, you will administer term contracts, conduct valuation of work done for progress payment, and settle the final accounts.

  • Diploma in Building or a related discipline

DRAFTSMAN (CIVIL/STRUCTURAL)
You will assist the engineers in the planning of port related activities, drafting of feasibility studies and new development. Your responsibilities include producing drawings for calling of tender and for construction; and carrying out site measurement.

  • Higher NITEC or NITEC in Civil & Structural Engineering Design, Building Drafting; or equivalent
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or Micro Station drafting

ENGINEERING RELATED POSITIONS
OPERATIONS ASSISTANT (INVENTORY MANAGEMENT)
Your main responsibility is to provide administrative support on engineering stock inventory control. This includes assisting the inventory officer on maintaining optimum inventory stock, monitoring stock inventory and carrying out re-orderings and appropriate adjustments. You also work with users and buyers on the purchase of suitable stock items.

Requirements:
  • NITEC or minimum 3 "O" levels.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Meticulous and independent.
  • Experience in inventory control would be an advantage.

SENIOR/OPERATIONS ASSISTANT (PURCHASING)
You will assist in the entire process of procuring quality engineering part and services, which includes sourcing, liaison and negotiations with suppliers. Integrity and attention to details are critical as you will assist with the preparation of tender invitations and purchase orders. You will also monitor all purchases and deliveries, and ensure proper data entry and timely updating of databases.

Requirements
  • Diploma or NITEC in any discipline; or minimum 3 'O' level credits
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word

OPERATIONS ASSISTANT (STORE OPERATIONS)
You will be responsible for the daily movement of engineering stock items required for the timely support of our port operations. Besides systematic tracking of store inventory and being involved in stock-takes, you will upkeep the standard of store practices and procedures. In addition, you will liaise with other departments on the quality control of new items.

Requirements
  • NITEC in any discipline or minimum 3 'O' level credit
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
  • Those with at least 2 years' experience in a warehouse environment will have an added advantage


OPERATIONS ASSISTANT (PLANNING)
Your main responsibility will be to ensure the smoothness of PSA equipment maintenance through efficient planning and scheduling to maintain high service levels. You will also prepare information for manpower deployment; monitor as well as update the system and prepare reports on the maintenance status. In addition, you will activate and liaise with contractors for some of the maintenance works.

Requirements
  • At least 3 GCE 'O' level credits, NITEC, ITC or equivalent

ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE
DEPUTY FINANCE MANAGER
Leading a team of accounting professionals, you will provide financial support to the business units. Your responsibilities include:-
  • Providing financial inputs to the business units in managing their financial targets
  • Preparing monthly reports and analysis, highlighting key trends and events
  • Generating quarterly and annual forecast analysing targets versus forecast numbers and providing guidance to the business units
  • Co-ordinate and integrate annual budget planning exercise for the various business units, providing key analysis and guidance in the development and presentation of the budgets
  • Analyse pricing contracts and provide inputs to Commercial to guide contract discussions and negotiations
  • Ensure that internal control processes are effective for proper accountability of financial and business risks
  • Collaborate with the various business as well as support units towards achievement of business objectives

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects requiring finance inputs from time to time
Requirements
  • Degree in Accountancy
  • At least 5 years of working experience in management accounting/reporting
  • Experience in dealing with auditors, business process re-engineering, and ability to manage a team of staff will be advantageous
  • Strong analytical skills, meticulous, resourceful and independent
  • Team player with good communication and people management skills
  • Hands on experience of Oracle financial system will be an added advantage

ACCOUNTS EXECUTIVE
Responsibilities

You will assist the Accountants in the timely preparation of management/financial reports, preparation of audit schedules, reconciliation of provision accounts and raising of journal vouchers. You will also be involved in the annual budgeting exercise.

  • Diploma in Accountancy
  • Preferably with at least 1 year of relevant experience in a MNC
  • Meticulous and independent
  • Good computer literacy and working knowledge in Oracle Financial System would be advantageous

ACCOUNTANT
Your role will be to provide accounting and finance support to user departments. Your responsibilities include the preparation of management reports to highlight actual variances against prior period and budget, regular review of basis of journals to ensure proper accounting and timely reconciliation of clearing accounts to ensure proper maintenance and clearance. You will also assist user departments in the corporate-wide annual budgeting exercise.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
SENIOR/SYSTEMS ENGINEER (WINDOWS ADMINISTRATION)
Responsibilities

In this role, you will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the organization's mission critical systems. Apart from your primary responsibility of maintaining the availability and reliability of the systems, you will also be required to perform activities ranging from planning for system upgrades, systems and application troubleshooting & system performance monitoring. You will also work closely with the application and other infrastructure teams to ensure a smooth delivery of projects.

Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years IT working experience in Enterprise IT deployment and Infrastructure System Administration on Windows platform.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Exchange technology, virtualisation platform Windows Hyper-V, Sharepoint, SQL Server, SCCM and SCOM.
  • MCSE certification will be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with customers, vendors to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Strong analytical logic and problem troubleshooting skills with great initiatives and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work well with a team, with peers and management, in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

PROGRAMMER/ANALYST
Responsibilities

You will support and maintain existing IT systems. In addition, you will develop new features requested by users, perform programme requirement analysis, programming, debugging and user support.

A 2-year contract will be offered.

Responsibilities

You will manage the mission-critical network infrastructure comprising switches, routers, firewalls, wireless components as well as other network equipment and devices. You are expected to perform network device configuration, troubleshooting, documentation of the network infrastructure, network security-related tasks, performance monitoring and capacity planning. You will also take part in the evaluation and recommendation of new network tools and products.

Requirements
  • Degree in Computer/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Familiar with Cisco network equipment, Check Point firewalls, VPN technologies
  • Familiar with TCP/IP & IT security concepts
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience as a Network Administrator
  • Prepared to do 24 by 7 standby duty

IT OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE
Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include the following functions:-

(i) Infrastructure Operations
  • Perform systems administration for Windows, Unix & Linux servers
  • Perform change and release management
  • Proactive monitoring of systems & network
  • Set up and replacement of hardware components/servers
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Administration of enterprise tape backup
  • Regular restoration testing of backup tapes

HUMAN RESOURCE
TRAINING EXECUTIVE (TECHNICAL TRAINING)
Responsibilities

You will conduct training needs assessment to identify and evaluate training requirements for PSA employees as well as select and develop training materials and aids (includes training handbooks and multimedia visual aids…etc). Your responsibilities also include evaluating the effectiveness of training and development programs, instructor performance and recommending modifications and improvements to program content and/or presentation methods. You will also be required to perform training administrative functions to deliver and document training programs.

Requirements
  • Possess an Engineering (Electrical/Electronics) degree
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as organizing and coordinating skills
  • Knowledge in management development & competency development
