To meet the exacting demands of the global market place, PSA is constantly innovating through automation and the use of intelligence systems to enhance our customers’ hubbing operations and competitiveness.
The arrival of a ship used to mean endless faxes and forms with cargo and other details, all of which had to be processed manually. This left a lot of room for human error and confusion.
Then, in 1972, PSA bought its first computer and with the start of container operations, computerisation picked up speed.
Today, PSA operations are managed on a network of more than 300 advanced servers. In addition, applications, such as CITOS® and PORTNET®, have given PSA the edge to achieve greater levels of productivity, translating to higher efficiencies for its customers.
Some of the award-winning innovations developed in-house by PSA include:
- Computer Integrated Terminal Operating System (CITOS®)
- Portnet
- Flow-Through Gate
- Remote-controlled Overhead Bridge Cranes
