Staff Testimonials
To better understand the career paths of our Management Associates, here are what some of them have experienced on this exciting journey.
PHINEHAS TAN
ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT (TANJONG PAGAR / KEPPEL TERMINAL ENGINEERING)
SINGAPORE TERMINALS 1

At PSA, keeping the equipment running reliably is essential to the success of the business. This means that engineers get first-hand experiences in solving problems together with a top class maintenance team. Our learning culture also enables engineers to nurture and enhance their technical and management skills. With PSA’s emphasis on continuous innovation and multiple development projects to enable equipment and systems automation, there are endless opportunities to learn and grow. As an MA, I was developed through rotations to different departments and equipment. Each rotation presented tough assignments but the coaching and support structure in PSA enabled me to deliver on each count. Looking back, the experience has surpassed my expectations and it has certainly been a rewarding career for me.

ASSISTANT MANAGER

JL Being an MA under the Infocomm Technology (ICT) track, I gained additional insights into PSA’s business during my rotation stint in Operations. It was impressive to see the unique One PSA synergy coming to life where ICT and other functions collaborate to deliver seamless container terminal operations and develop innovative solutions for our high-tech mega port. As a member of my division’s Social Bonding Committee, I also had a fun time playing an active role in bringing everyone together.

I feel privileged to be working alongside individuals and teams who are highly professional and committed to excellence. The experience in dynamic port operations during my MA journey had strengthened my ability to be innovative and forward-thinking. PSA believes in providing young talents with broad-based experiences to complement their development in specialized domains. I had the opportunity to undergo a few job rotations and am now contributing to our new venture capitalist arm, PSA unboXed. I am excited to be involved in scanning and evaluating new technologies that could potentially disrupt our industry. I look forward to continue to grow alongside PSA and play my part in maintaining our status as a world-class container terminal operator!

It had been an extremely enriching and enjoyable journey with PSA. In the past decade, I had been exposed to various functions within the organization and enjoyed interacting with staff from all walks of life. I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to take on an overseas assignment to head one of our terminals in Laem Chabang, Thailand. It was tough working in a country with different culture, language and issues, but the challenging environment enabled me to sharpen my business and commercial acumen and hence develop myself professionally. The overseas exposure had been, without doubt, the highlight of my career in PSA thus far.
