Tuas Port Marks 25 Million TEUs As PSA Singapore Advances The Future Of Port Operations
PSA Singapore (PSA) has achieved a significant milestone, handling 25 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) at Tuas Port since operations commenced in September 2022. This achievement reflects the continued ramp-up of operations at the world’s largest fully automated container terminal and underscores Tuas Port’s growing importance as a key node in global trade.
As maritime trade continues to evolve amid shifting geopolitical dynamics, Tuas Port continues to serve as a critical gateway for resilient, reliable and efficient cargo flows. As a key pillar of PSA Group’s Node to Network strategy, it connects PSA’s transhipment capabilities in Singapore with the Group’s wider global port ecosystem network, providing customers with greater flexibility, enhanced connectivity and more efficient end-to-end supply chain solutions.
Mr Ong Kim Pong, Group CEO of PSA International, said, “With global trade patterns becoming increasingly complex, robust coordination across ports and supply chain nodes has become more essential than ever. Tuas Port’s integrated port ecosystem, designed to future-proof supply chains, streamlines terminal and logistics services to enable our customers to move cargo with greater agility, resilience and confidence. Guided by responsible stewardship, we will continue strengthening the Group’s network of port ecosystems, harnessing innovation and digitalisation to power trade flows beyond Singapore, while reinforcing Singapore’s position as the world’s leading transhipment hub.”
Mr Nelson Quek, Regional CEO Southeast Asia, PSA International, said, “This significant milestone was made possible by the trust and strong collaboration of our customers, partners and unions, together with the collective efforts and dedication of our people. I am equally proud of our colleagues, whose perseverance and collective efforts have enabled us to navigate challenges and seize new opportunities. As we look ahead, we will continue working hand in hand to shape the next chapter of Singapore’s maritime journey.”
Tuas Port currently has 14 operational berths and is on track to reach 18 by 2027. PSA continues to advance sustainable and smart technologies to raise benchmarks in operational, service and environmental excellence.
